BIOGRAPHY

Hi, my name is Tommy Schmidt. I am a father of four lovely children and husband to a wife of 37 years. I was born in Hong Kong in 1959. My parents were China missionaries - pastors David Schmidt and Gwen Schmidt/ Shaw.

As a child, I was privileged to see the glory of God, travel with my family, and be part of the church. At the age of 6, I traveled with my mom while she held tent crusades from one end of India to the other. It was in Darjeeling where I got water baptized. In 1976, I moved to Arkansas. The same year while on a missionary trip to Russia, I was captured by the Russian army while bringing Bibles to the underground Christians. God saved me from being killed by a firing squad.

In 1979, I joined the U.S. army as an engineer. In 1980, I met and married Mannah Schmidt. 1989, I moved back to Arkansas to help my mother Dr. Gwen Shaw in Ministry at the headquarters of the End-time Handmaids and Servants International.

From 1995-1996, I was privileged with the opportunity to minister and live in Russia. 1996, I was ordained under Saints and Hardhats ministry. In 1997, my father David Schmidt passed away in Hong Kong. Together with my brother David, we took over his orphanage/kindergarten in the resettlement of lower Ngau-tau-kok Hong Kong, which we operated until 2004. During this time, we got to see many miracles. One of those was experiencing God protecting all of our orphans during the bird flu epidemic. Our school was in the epicenter of this outbreak, yet none of the children or our staff were affected. Another miracle I experienced while working in Asia, occurred on an air flight. The plane began losing fuel rapidly while trying to take off. Although it should have caught on fire, every one of us were saved. One of my greatest blessings; May 8,1999 I signed an agreement with the PRC granting permission to purchase Bibles for their people.

In 2014, I started “a house of hope” in Harrison Arkansas for dysfunctional families. I have been privileged to see God restore families that he sent our way. This year-2017, we have stepped out in faith, moving to Harrison Arkansas to be totally independent as Rivers of Refreshing in the desert ministry where I reside with my wife and down syndrome son, while also pastoring a small church in Jasper Arkansas.

To be openly frank, our previous environment was totally toxic; body, mind and spirit. Although this needed change; both physically and internally was totally necessary to wholly heal, it has been quite emotionally and financially draining. We have had to stop support of orphans we work with in India. I cannot believe that this is all there is to life. I need to be there for my son who is physically and mentally challenged. I feel there's much more I could contribute. I believe there is much more ahead of me, but I need your help to get through this difficult time. Some doctors say that chemotherapy is the only way to go, while others tell me that there are superior alternative choices that allow me to not destroy my immune system and body through chemotherapy. The alternative choices come with no insurance opportunity. If you feel it in your heart to help me on my life path, I know that when your time comes, the same creator will challenge those to help you on yours. This I have learned through years of ministry and my walk with God. We were never designed to be an entity, the “castle,” a fortress unto ourselves. We were meant to inter-act. To help one another. My grandfather always said God has a bigger shovel than I have. The quickest way for you to unlock the door to more in your life, is to unlock the door to more in someone else's. Deuteronomy tells us that if we would equally share our increase with widows, orphans, strangers, the Levite/Pastor while we help ourselves; God is promised to increase our increase.

Thank you and God bless, Tommy Schmidt.
